I am reaching out to our community in hopes of finding volunteer host families for some wonderful high school exchange students coming to our area in August. Missouri has been amazing with welcoming our students each year, and I can’t wait for this next class. Perhaps you or someone you know would be interested in the opportunity to be a volunteer host family!
Our students will attend the high school closest to their host family and can take school transportation or carpool. They already speak English and have their own medical insurance as well as their own spending money to cover their personal expenses. Volunteer host families come in all shapes and sizes; retired, single parents, couples with or without children of any age, etc. A host simply puts another plate on the table and welcomes the student as one of their own!
Here are some notes about a few students still waiting to be matched with their American family:
Natalia (15F from Brazil) – She’s an outgoing, smiley girl who is very close to her sister. Natalia enjoys hanging out with friends, cycling around her neighborhood, and discovering new places with good food! She would love to learn how to ice skate here in the US, and in school she loves psychology, arts, and philosophy.
Jeongwoo (16M from South Korea) – Jeongwoo loves sports and is excited to watch American football! He is outgoing and also a huge movie fan, plays volleyball, and is really looking forward to finding out more about what he wants to do with his life.
Jana (16F from Germany) – She’s a positive person who is known for standing up for things that matter. She loves to stay busy, doing Judo, reading, playing games, and joining many groups to volunteer and improve the world around her. She loves animals and hopes to be a teacher!
Avtandil (16M from Georgia) – Avtandil is a sporty guy who plays soccer and volleyball, and he’d love to try American football or wrestling! He loves his volunteer position at his local animal shelter, and loves lending a helping hand to anyone he can. After high school, he plans to study Coding and Software Development.
Ciara (16F from Ecuador) – She is a cheerleader, who loves photography and creating art in many forms! Ciara is interested in trying other sports like softball and cannot wait to experience snow for the first time. She’s outgoing, helpful, and loves spending time with her friends.
Feel free to contact me directly or visit www.ciee.org/host for more information. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely,
Diana
